Re: Nice war time pic

The other is a Sim(P)son, not sure of the spelling (with or without the P) and is American. I am not quite sure of the period, possibly post war.

Re: Nice war time pic

The penultimate one is a Simplex Servi-Cycle, from Florida USA.

It was an all belt driven bike, with a 200cc twinspark twostroke engine, not very conventional!

This particular one was one of 24 obtained in April 1942 and tested by the Canadian Army, 10 went overseas, but they were not very satisfactory, and no further purchases were made.

The Simplex pictured, is a normal "civy" model painted o.d.

US Army had a special adapted model for the Airborne troops, of which several were used with the 82nd AB. in Holland.

Here's Father Simpson on one in Veghel Holland.

Still looking for a flywheel after 5 years!!

Cheers,

Lex
