Chaincase assembly.

Hello All,
I have finally gotten my clutch/gearbox & cush drive sorted out & am going to button up the chaincase. What is the reccomended procedure? Do I use Permatex and grease both sides of the chaincase so I can reuse the gasket? Or do I not use any Permatex? Or Permatex one side of the gasket? Any suggestions would be helpful. Or is it just going to leak anyway and rustproof the bike.

Re: Chaincase assembly.

I first degrease both sides, then apply silicon (bathroom)paste to the rear one and glue the cork gasket there. Put on the cover and let dry. Next day apply silicon paste on the cork, and very lightly smear grease on the cover. Now close the chaincase, starting on the bottom side and working around and upwards. No leaks any more, and you can remove the cover and replace it without damaging that precious cork gasket

Re: Chaincase assembly.

Same but different for me. I have hard glued my gasket to the inside of chain cover. I then just grease it. I have removed and replaced the cover on several occasions without problem or leaks. Ron
