It has the later headlamp with the push button switch, a blackout thingy and blanked out ammeter (i.e. no ammeter).
Unfortunately, it doesn't have the switch that goes "somewhere under the seat":
Is this, literally, just a plate with the modified U39 switch, i.e. with the wires hanging out the back OR is it a small fabricated box with a switch in it ?
Where exactly would it have mounted ?
To be fair, as I am going to ride the bike, then it might be that the headlamp will go into a box and I'll fit a repro with a proper lens and ammeter.
My wife will end up selling the the oiginal headlamp, still in the same box, at auction in 40 years for the price of a house... It also has a different (steel ?) inner chaincase but not the outer, so that will be likely be in the same box at sale time.
Here a picture of the backside of one of mine, self explanatory I would think.
Does anyone know if the word "TEST" like above is the early or late version?? others I have, have the "TEST" in very small letters written vertical on the switch.
Re. mounting, every make of bike was slightly different, Henk has pictures of BSA's I believe?
