Hello, anybody have experience with new Amal 276 . I'm thinking to buy one.
I have all barrels with 1 1/16" inlet, should I buy 1" carb as it says for M20? Or M21 type with M20 jetting?
Hi Kalle..I fitted a new 276 to my M20 about 5 years ago...I just put it on and it was very quick and easy to set up. Since then I've never looked at it...
My 720cc M20/21 runs a standard M21 carb with standard settings, but I ran the other 720 on an 1 1/8" B33 289... they seem very tolerant to substantial changes..The only difference between the M20 and 21 is the 1/16" difference in the choke size and the main jet size..a 170 for the M20 and, strangely, a 160 for the M21...
I'd buy the M21 carb and get the additional 170 main jet with it and then you can alter it if you need to..Ian
Kalle,
i bought a new 276 direct from Amal, in my case for a 16H. Delivery to New Zealand was under a week and more than happy with the result.
My previous carb sounds very like your current one.
I also bought a new Amal 276 with 1 1/16" bore for my M21 engine, which I'm quite pleased with. It was to replace the 1" M20 carb that Martyn refurbed and bored out to 1 1/16". I replaced his because I found the body was distorting very easily by the flange nuts and trapping the slide. The new one was exactly the same. I now Loktite the nuts and do them up quite lightly.
Henk tells me he has had the same problem with his M21 carbs. Ron
