A little tip regarding steering head bearings upgrade

In case anyone will benefit from what I've just found out , A65 crankshaft endfloat shims are an ideal fit on an M20 bottom steering yoke to prevent the outer race of an upgrade sealed bearing from fouling against the bottom yoke arms .

Re: A little tip regarding steering head bearings upgrade

Thanks Leif..That opens up the possibility of me supplying shims with the kit..How many shims were required?..and can you measure the total thickness?...keep at it..Ian

Re: A little tip regarding steering head bearings upgrade

I used only one shim Ian which is of a 4 thou thickness . I often deal with a company called TMS in Nottingham (0115 950 3447) who sell a set of A50/A65 crankshaft shims as a 'mixed bag' of various thicknesses , either four or six to a pack , cant quite remember . Their part number is 67.0671/2 and the current price they have on their website is £4.50 , although they charge £5.00 minimum for postage . As far as I can remember four thou was the thinnest in the pack , although it's been two years or so since I built my A65 engine . Regards Leif .
