Burman CP as fitted G3WO

Hi Guys, I am just rebuilding my Matchless gearbox and all seems to be ok, but just wanted to ask if anyone knows what the threads on the studs that hold the gearbox units together? They look rather more coarse than CEI but they could be.

Also, have bought some grease recommended by one of our regular dealers but just wondered whether anyone can recommend which gearbox grease to use?

Also need some bits and bobs for the WO, like gearlever, kickstart, footrests, footrest bars, and a plus 20 pistons and rings. thanks Andrew

Re: Burman CP as fitted G3WO

Hi, they are Whitworth, the sizes are 1/4" and 5/16" these are the ones in the actual casing. Usually UNC will do for these two sizes, the thread form only starts to run out at 3/8"

Re: Burman CP as fitted G3WO

Thanks Dave. That's really helpful. I thought they looked a bit coarse. Didn't want to dress the threads with the wrong die. Cheers.

Re: Burman CP as fitted G3WO

Andrew, try Russell's for the parts you need. Cheers John

Re: Burman CP as fitted G3WO

Russels have certainly got kick start parts as I bought one there recently
