Got this from Fleabay; after removing about a pound of cosmoline (first boiled in water, then the remains with turps) I found the - I think - late type one-piece pegs. Am I correct?
Hi Hans..Those are the standard WD (early pattern) selectors. The giveaway is the cosmoline as the later parts weren't produced until after the girder fork models had gone out of production.
The difference between the two types is that the later ones have wider tracks and the stem and 'head' of the pins have a bigger differential between the diameters.
Widening the tracks increased the radii where the track changed direction and gave the 'cams' a smoother action...Ian
