G3L : Magneto -Timing Case Gap

Hello,
Can anyone please let me know if there should be a gap between the magneto and the timing case in a G3L? If not what sealing should I use in-between them?
I would be really grateful if I can see a pic of this.

Regards

Re: G3L : Magneto -Timing Case Gap

Yes, there normally is a bit of a gap, usually about 1/8". There is no oil pressure in the chaincase, so not normally a problem. The mag also has a seal fitted. If you want to fill in the gap a mag seal from an Ariel single (2090-53) fits a treat.

Re: G3L : Magneto -Timing Case Gap

You can adjust the magneto to let the chain run straight, so there's no given measurement for the gap!

As long as the chain runs straight, and nothing is hitting the innner or outer chaincase it's OK.

Never bothered with any sealing there, just occasionally grease the chain.

Cheers,

Lex
