Re: A snapshot of the past.

Quite remarkable! Imagine finding them after all these years. A real time capsule.

Identifying this superb fantastic motorcycle shouldn't be too much of a problem.......

Re: A snapshot of the past.

I had found the two motorcycle pictures before on one of my many trawls through the internet. I did not know the story behind them though and have found it to be an interesting read.

Re: A snapshot of the past.

I don't know if I missed something in the article, but why did he hide all his belongings, including uniform, in the desert? Going on a spy mission, in civilian wear? Or just afraid to be captured in uniform? Questions, questions....

Re: A snapshot of the past.

Hi Hans,

have a look at the title.....

A snapshot of the past,
the lost bag of signalman Alexander (Alec) Ross,
Royal Signals, L.R.D.G. dispatch rider

riding a rigid bike in the rough desert can cause lost luggage..

Re: A snapshot of the past.

As Sven mentions, it is surprising that no-one has advised the web-site that the bike is a 1940 WD16H from either contract C6653 or the early part of C7353.

Re: A snapshot of the past.

Nice find Henk, all of my former favorite places in those photos. My bikes are all from there. Great links to the past.
