Petrol tap adapters

Hi all

I have 2 x nos petrol taps I want to fit to an m20 tank I have

I need the 2 adapters that screw into the tank itself which then allows the taps to be fitted

Am I making sense ?

Any one got info on where I could get these ?

Best regards

Re: Petrol tap adapters

I got mine in a local store, dealing with pressure pipes.

It quite cheap, and you have a chance to compare few models and screw in your tap for test..

Re: Petrol tap adapters

TMS of Nottingham list one, looks like it's steel with a large hexagon £3.

Re: Petrol tap adapters

talking of leaks keep your petrol tap corks soaked in petrol dont let them dry out or they will leak

Re: Petrol tap adapters

if you have dry taps which are leaking, take out the bit that contains the cork and drop them in boiling water for a couple of minutes this will cause the corks to swell, dry and refit.

Re: Petrol tap adapters

Thanks everyone info is much appreciated

I learned the trick of soaking corks in petrol from the old boy who saved my aul green Nellie from the scrap heap many years ago, simple but very effective

Re: Petrol tap adapters

Should there be filters screwed into these adaptors? If not is there anywhere to filter prior to the carb?

Re: Petrol tap adapters

pete there is a small gauze filter about 2" long that is on the petrol tap and goes into the tank it is soldered in place

Re: Petrol tap adapters

both of my adapters are brass and have the filters already soldered to em, luckily the filters are ok, i just got to find the taps,

Re: Petrol tap adapters

Remember also when looking at adapters in a plumbing outlet or similar there are two pipe threads...BSP and BSPT..the latter having a tapered thread form.
For motorcycle applications the non tapered BSP type are used...Ian
