Hi
Could someone help, the petrol tank on my M20 has a 3/8" to 1/8" reduction fitted to take the petrol tap.
The petrol tap thread on one end measures 1/8" (.383 on the measuring caliper.) and .434 on the caliper at the other end which screws onto the metal fuel line.
What size and type of thread is .434 ?
Is the 3/8 to 1/8 reducer standard?
Are petrol taps and reducers this size easy to source?
Tank adapters are available with either an 1/8"BSP internal thread or 1/4" BSP internal thread. I believe the standard one is 1/4"..at least every BSA tank I have had has been thus equipped.
I have also had M20 copper petrol pipes with nuts in either size..but again personally I have found the 1/4"BSP size to be more common...Ian
The thread in the tank is normally 3/8BSP Into this was screwed a filter adaptor (27-8436)which reduced from 3/8 to 1/8 BSP. The tap(27-8552)was 1/8 on the inlet with a 3/16BSP outlet.
Cheers, Mick.
