Trouble at mill

Hi all
Dinner is over & the annual chocolate eating contest is underway !!
I hope you all had or are having a great family day :-)

However, trouble looms for me - possibly

After working on the bike for 1 1/2 days I attempted to start the bike only for the kickstart spring to break
I have replaced this but found the outer case gaskets I had for this are plunger type despite coming in an early the gasket set - not only poor standards from the sub continent these days

I have put sealant on the cover as a stop gap, but have read on the tech section you cannot do this

Can anyone confirm if I can get away with this quick mod

Also, changing the 2 small springs in place - what a monumental pain in the arse - my first Christmas eve in 30 years with no drink taken !! :-D

Advice anyone

Re: Trouble at mill

You should be ok if you use silicone sealer, there usually is enough slop on everything to stop any of the shafts from binding. Now you've done that you can get back to the drink!

Re: Trouble at mill

Did about 75 miles today in dry & the rain

We had 3 m20's, 2 BSA A10, a bantam, triumph 3ta, 2 old hondas, & some modern bikes too

The gearbox worked well despite no gasket on the casing

And we had a drink as well
