Re: Everybody wants a BSA even if it isn't

The writing on the photo of the German looks like 'Barglas BSA' I can't find the name (either christian name or surname) in various lists of German names..and it's not a German word.
Is he a German or one of the many other nationalities that served in the German Army...any suggestions?...Ian

Re: Everybody wants a BSA even if it isn't

I've just found an article about an Illegal Immigrant rapist called Louis Barglas- Herrer. We just need to know what country he comes from.

Maybe it should be Bargla's BSA so if you look for Bargla there are results. It's a surname and a district of Almora, Uttarakhand, India

Re: Everybody wants a BSA even if it isn't

Looking at the light downward strokes, I don't think that those are lower case 'a's, I reckon 'e's - It looks to me to be an attempt by someone brought up writing in Sütterlin script to write clearly on a photograph.

It starts to make sense then as Bergles is the Germanic spelling of the Sudetenland town now known as Brazec in the modern day Czech Republic.

The location would account for the winter coat. It is interesting that an unmodified bike found its way to the east.

Re: Everybody wants a BSA even if it isn't

I thought the last "a" might be an "e" but 2 "e"s would make more sense, he doesn't look very Indian
