drive chain

I have been looking in my books for the type / size of chain used for both the primary & drive chain. I was able to find the length but not the size. Can any one let me know of the size & type? Due to it been in an oil bath would the primary chain be better if it was a non o/ring chain? Were both the same size?
Thanks
Michael

As you suggest, a non-oring chain is best for primary chain use
