Re: flying flea rear ligjht

No Rick, that lamp has nothing to do with Jeeps!

Andrew I have never found an original Miller tail lamp. They were only fitted to Fleas, Velo MAF's and I believe the Miller equipped G3L's.
However, the lens part is fitted to other Miller lamps. By using one of these lens parts and a Lucas base and with drawings and measurements from my friends in Holland. I found the right size tube. I got my mate to make the ring and do some gentle machining on his lathe.
By soldering the ring to the tube and sanding the Lucas writing off the base, I got this fairly accurate repro.

Maybe I'll find an original one day also. Ron

Re: flying flea rear ligjht

Nice to have these "friends" in Holland!! I have some in the UK too!

Here a picture of mine before restauration:

And after:

Another one I found:

This Miller lamp is all over the place, and can be used for the lens and rim:

And the comparison between Miller and Lucas:

Is that one of your pictures Ron??

Will have the very thick/heavy rubber wiring availeble for Fleas next year.

Hope this helps, the lamps are not impossible, but once in 10 years you may find one!

Cheers,

Lex

Re: flying flea rear ligjht

That other little Miller lamp you show Lex. I have found several like that but always to small. I believe the small ones are Corgi tail lamps. Maybe the larger ones are from an Auto-cycle?? Ron

Re: flying flea rear ligjht

Hey guys, thanks for posting these pics, I need one for a Miller G3L I'm rebuilding. I made this from a drawing Steve Madden sent me-
lamp
Perhaps by adding that ring I'll get away with it!
Cheers, Mick.

Re: flying flea rear ligjht

Thanks chaps, Ill track down a miller to take a lens from to start with, and use a repro base with no markings should get the flea finished over christmas, by the way have found a horn, rubber bulb type, thats looks good, not too long about 7inches plus bulb, its of course repro with metal horn, thats painted, will blast the chrome off the bracket and zinc plate the bracket, take care out there, first good frost tonight, andrew.h.
