Henri. The genny pulley runs anti clock as you look at it. They are the three brush type and you can increase the output by turning the third (movable) brush to the left, viewed from the pulley end.
Check that all the terminal posts are insulated or earthed correctly from/to the body, if they are anything like the Harley one, they are pretty easy to sort, just make sure any paper washers are in place between the brush holders and the body and that the terminal bolts have the correct fibre washers on them
