Fixing new linings

hi Guys, have just received a set of NOS un drilled brake linings and rivets. Can anyone let me have any tips on this job please? I understand that I need to drill the new linings and then countersink them, but the latter process woudl appear to be be fairly critical to the ammount of future wear. Anyone know how deep to countersink them. THEN there is the riveting! Not having a proper rivet snap, can it be achieved without one or is it on to E Bay? thanks.

Re: Fixing new linings

Hi Andrew... I used a bit of bar in the vice... Needed someone to hold brake shoe in exact place while I hit the rivet to preen over. It's manageable but dont drill into the lining too deeply!

If you have NOS linings I would wet them before drilling..they probably have a high asbestos content...Ian
