tin plate on front downtube

recently i acquired a curved piece of tinware that goes over the front of the down tube at the bottom and attaches onto the front frame mounting bolts, it was on earlier bikes, it keeps mud out from between the engine plates at the front, but when was it on and when was it no longer used? i had a look in the 1940 catalogue but it wasnt there so 39?

Re: tin plate on front downtube

Hi Jonb,

Brandon sent me a very nice digital copy of the 1939 parts book with illustrations.

The part could be: 15-2437 for b21, b24, b25

OR

66-2823 for m23, m22, m25

This is for upswept exhausts only.

I'd be hapy to send the approtriate pages to you if you PM me.

Cheers

Re: tin plate on front downtube

Had one of these rounded covers for years, and nobody knew what it was, so "gave" it away to Rob Miller, he was happy!

Cheers,

Re: tin plate on front downtube

Has someone already folded one flat and made a drawing of it? I would like to make one somewhere in the future and a drawing would be a great help. Regards, Michiel
