Pidgeon service

Not withstanding that I handfeed pidgeons and am impressed by their quirks, I thought to post this article from 1942 available in the Cairo Parade issue, mostly because of the bike on the lower right corner. Seems to be a BSA with tank numbers and blackout headlamp.Photobucket

Re: Pidgeon service

Hi Henri,

Would a good scan be possible from the bike photo?

Thanks,
Henk.

Re: Pidgeon service

is 37 the end of the C number is the 26 the div sign and the rider wonders why everybody sings why does everybody call me big head when he walks into the canteen

Re: Pidgeon service

I think the 26 would have been the Divisional serial number. The number 26 in the Middle East for 1939-40 on a red background would have been for the 3rd of 3 Armoured Regiments in a British Armoured Division. Clearly they were armoured pidgeons. Cheers John

Re: Pidgeon service

they used to give the pidgeons a head start by shooting them out of the tank gun if they got it wrong there was roast pidgeon for tea
