Gearbox Reassembly

Morning fellas.

Just putting the box back together following the main bearing replacement. I read the maintenance manual about how it all goes together. Do the gears look like they are in the correct position? I think it's in top gear but the pins that move the gear selector forks are in a different position to the diagram?

Now why can't I seem to get pictures to appear here???
It used to work for me.
And before anyone says something, that red stuff is grease not rust![

Re: Gearbox Reassembly

Cheers for that, comforting to know it's right before sealing up again!

Re: Gearbox Reassembly

Hi Andy..Don't forget to adjust it so that the gap on each side of the layshaft selector dog is equal..and have you attended correctly to the end float of the shafts?...Ian

Re: Gearbox Reassembly

Ian, yes thanks - the spacing was already equal thankfully and needed no adjustment.

In terms of float there was very little, I'm starting to think this bike has done very few miles - even on the original piston!

Re: Gearbox Reassembly

Hi Andy..Someone has been inside the box before..unless you fitted the late pattern selector forks yourself..Ian

Re: Gearbox Reassembly

Crikey. Well spotted! I didn't fit them, so the box may be overhauled, which would explain the condition.

Thanks, Andy.
