re-assembly the gearchange

Hi,another problem in Belgium. I hope I can explain it in the English language:
I removed the sleeve out of the 'ratchet sleeve plate' (the plate in witch there are a series of teeth).I'm going to fit another 'ratchet sleeve plate' with better teeth. Now I see there is a mark on the'ratchet sleeve plate'(There is a line of about 2cm at the hole for the pen). But I can't find a mark on the sleeve.
Is this a mark? How can I re-assembly the sleeve into the 'ratchet sleeve plate'in a correct way?
I hope this will be clear for You all, Thanks
BSA regards from Belgium, Eric

Re: re-assembly the gearchange

Hi Eric..The mark on the ratchet plate is used to correctly position the sleeve in the plate, so that the gear indicator plate ends up in the right place when fitted.
You will see the two flats on the sleeve that the gear indicator plate sits on..These flats should be parallel to the scribed line on the ratchet plate when the sleeve is refitted to the plate...Ian
