At a car boot sale ("rommelmarkt") I found a box with some WW2 webbing. Nothing special in general, but at the bottom there were several straps that caught my attention.
Some were the normal 30" canvas webbing straps with brass clasps, but there were also some made from thinner material, like tent cloth, folded over and stitched, see the left and right ones.
The clasps look much like the ones for the toolbox, they are kind of parkerized steel.
There seem to be some repairs having been made, see the left one.
Question: could these be the straps for the toolbox?
The one on the left looks like a normal 1907 utility strap made in a stop-gap material. I have in the same finish, some L-straps and cross straps. (usually early war: 1940/1941-ish)
The ones with a different metal clasps are not the 1907 utility straps, but some other strap. You may be able to find the nproper nomenclature of this type in one of the VAOS LV lists.
Excuse my ignorance, but what are the VAOS LV lists ..
VOAS = Vocabulary of Ordnance Army Stores, books with lists of equipment/spares/uniforms etc. quite interesting, don't have one handy at the moment for an example picture.
LV = Land vehicles.
Look on page 170 of the newest Orchard/Madden book, that explains it.
