Cylinder / crankcase gasket

Hello. I have recently removed the cylinder to find a rotten cardboard like gasket.?
I have looked for gasket material, and have found many kits. I only need this gasket.
What is the best material to use

Thanks

Re: Cylinder / crankcase gasket

Hi Glen, Go to any good car accessory shop and you can buy sheets of gasket card, they sell it in different thicknesses, just cut your gasket out.

Re: Cylinder / crankcase gasket

These are little more than heavy weight paper. A corn flakes box will even do, but be a little thick. Ron

Re: Cylinder / crankcase gasket

A brown manilla envelope is about the right thickness and will also do

Re: Cylinder / crankcase gasket

i suppose you alter the compression ratio a very very small amount bit by using a thick gasket

Re: Cylinder / crankcase gasket

Thanks for the info guys. Yeah the compression and also the clearance
On the decompression lifter, which at the moment is minimal. I think 0.5 mm gasket would be the maximum I would use. Is this correct.

Thank you.
