How to Tell where a wm20 served in WWII ?

This has probably been answered. But where do I go to find out where my bike was during the war? I have the frame numbers and engine numbers

Thanks

Re: How to Tell where a wm20 served in WWII ?

Hi Jeff

There is very little wartime information left.

The postwar keycards may tell you where your bike was after the war but as most M20s still in service then had been completely rebuilt they are unlikely to have been returned to their wartime unit.

Working out when your bike left the factory can give you some clues as to where it didn't serve.

Rob van den Brink's site gives as comprehensive an explanation as you'll find.

http://www.wdnorton.nl/Individual_motorcycle_history.htm

Which country are you in ? That may give a clue. Look also for rebuild plates or stamps which may give a workshop number.

You'll be more than lucky to pin down closer than theatre though.
