chain case removal and exhaust removal

I know this is a really basic question but I am busy stripping my M20 and working without a manual and dont want to break or damage anything. So firstly guys, I have removed all the fillister heads slot screws holding the chain case on and it does not come off. Is there a secret or do I need to tap it from the otherside? Also, the down pipe from the barrel? Any tricks to getting this one out without damaging anything? Much appreciate the help as I am a bit of newbie to these. cheers Andrew

Re: chain case removal and exhaust removal

The outer chaincase is probably stuck because of the gasket used, it just needs some convincing. Maybe the previous owner has used slicone gasket, that's like glue!
You will probably get more advise later from the 'specialists'.

Re: chain case removal and exhaust removal

Is as Ynse says, just stuck. Sometimes it needs a bit of gentle persuasion with a hide hammer behind the front edge.I presume you have removed the foot peg and dropped the brake pedal?
The exhaust is just a taper fit in the barrel. Squirt some plus gas round the joint and try a twisting motion back and forth. Once it's moved a little bit, it will soon come out. Ron

Don't be so cheap!

Buy Henks CD. It's in the "Parts for Sale" area. Bike: Priceless, CD: a real steal.
