'Mad dogs and Englishmen' and all that...the shadows are right under the bike so it must be near that time.
Judging by the way he is leaning the bike over and the fact he appears to be looking into the tank it seems there may be a fuel crisis. Never mind..that beret will give him plenty of shade... ...Ian

Re: web pic

I'm amazed he can keep that hat on when he unleashes the full power of that machine

And it must be quite refreshing riding in those "Bombay Bloomers", apart from all the sand, flies and camal dung that gets thrown up by the front wheel.

Re: web pic

nah, you've got it all wrong, thats rollie free on his pit bike BETTSY (front number plate)making a trial run on bonneville circa 1947.specially tuned and lightened(note alloy tappet cover and reduced pannier frames).due to wind resistance and associated tubulence around his nether regions due to the exceptional accelleration he later stripped to his grundies and borrowed a vincent black lightning for quick trip to the cludgie.the rest is hitory, appart from the bad timing of the earlier photo when a passing alien saucer that had been observing the occasion collided with his head and caused a tank slapper which also contributed to his need for the latrine.i've heard somewhere the saucer later crashed in new mexico at a place called roswell.the occupants of the saucer were removed to area 59 where they developed their own motorcycles which were copied by the japs as retribution for hirosima but thats another story.cheers rick

Re: web pic

Hi Guys,

When you look under his sattle, is this a Lee Enfield mk1 sticking through? (just past his oiltank)
Any other Ideas?

Cheers,

Leon

Re: web pic

Looks like another variation on the air filter?
Similar mounting to that Australian wartime photo but the filter itself is sitting horizontally in this example.

He Ray,

Good job! That is it!we are looking at the bottom of the box.
Probebly he moved it to that spot because of the noise it makes wile driving. (I also have such a box fitted, and make a hell of a noise!!)
Cheers,

Leon
