Can anyone post a picture of Matchless G3L sidestand, side on, so I can check it's angle, I've got an original one but it's got a couple of bends in it and I was just wanting to know what profile it should be as one of my bends looks as if it could possibly be a factory bend
Thanks
Dave
Here we go again, it looks like half of us will be out scouring the autojumbles for the correct stand!!!!
What are the differences between the two John?
Dave it's probably like you said earlier. "No such thing as a standard G3L"
I just looked in my G3L parts list (Contracts C 12632/3) And my G3 list (Contract C7183) and both give the same part number for the stand. W35-G3-F342-A.
Maybe later G3L's had a different (cheaper) stand, but I have only got this one G3L parts list. Ron
At least mine is now the same shape as Rons! Is one side threaded and if so what thread is it? Mine seems to have been converted at some time to fit a completely different bike, so I've removed the plates they welded in to narrow down the yoke part and now it fits properly.
Dave, John has sent me pictures that show the slight difference between the joint at the egg shaped pad. I'll forward them to you. Although when this change took place, I have no idea? Ron
Hello Ron,
Can you please show me some images of your Matchless. I have seen only portions of it here and there on the forum. As I am restoring mine I have used many of your pics for reference. Few pictures will be gratefully helpful to me.
It looks like the angle of dangle and length of the sidestands are all wrong on both models anyway.(that's not to say they are the wrong stands). However, it's nearly horizontal in one of the pictures and doesn't look like it would actually work well as a sidestand in either shot. (unless you took the blocks of wood with you)...Ian

When searching for sidestands for AMC singles be aware that post '48 stands were mounted forward of the footres and are different. Also post '52 they changed again. They all look similar.
