Spark Plug Query

I always like to carry spare plugs. I tend to find that my spares get used by other guys who don't seem to like carrying spares....or tools for that matter.
I prefer to use Champion plugs and I carry an L82C and an L86C so that I have one for my CO and one for my M20. But I have got confused by someone who told me L86C for OHV and L82C for SV. I had it the other way round. Can anyone confirm?

Both my plugs got used on our run yesterday. I even had to give up my battery to a mate with a C12 when his died. (hurrah for magnetos)

Re: Spark Plug Query

Hi Ron..It's the L86C for the sidevalves...unless you have the exotic alloy head in which case it is an N5C...Ian

You are right L82C OHV and L86C Sv.

Re: Spark Plug Query

Cheers Ian That's what I thought. I bought 2 new plugs at Kempton. Brian Tillin marked the box's for me. It seems he got them the wrong way round.
He keeps pigs now......A good career move me thinks Ron

Re: Spark Plug Query

I have a box of old Lodge and KLG plugs, most are unused- what is the equivalent to a Champion L86C?

Re: Spark Plug Query

Hi Vincent,

From what I could find here,

http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/speedex/index_files/Page1355.htm

the Champion L86C, which replaced the discontinued Champion L10 is equivalent to the KLG F50.

Re: Spark Plug Query

Lodge C14 for iron head sidevalve
KLG FE70 if I am correct or F70. One is long reach and the other short.

Re: Spark Plug Query

Strange...

I looked again for the correct KLG model for the WM20, and in another place, I now found:
"Early WM20's had the now scarce mica insulated KLG L777 spark plug,"

As also shown here in the site:

And "Successor to the 777 the KLG F70 was used on M20's"

So must be F70 as Leon said, and not as stated in the other chart I found at first.

Re: Spark Plug Query

I've found references to both KLG F50 and F70, which one is hotter/colder plug?
Also found the Lodge plug listed is the CN
