Info and help wanted

Hello can anyone suggest a product the will clean heavily oxidized aluminum crankcases? I don't wish to polish them but they are gunmetal grey.

Also I can't find an email address for Russell motors and they state they don't take phone orders , short of using snail mail has anyone for outside Britain had dealings with them?

Re: Info and help wanted

I have had fast and efficient service via faxed orders on the form downloaded from their website.
There used to be an email address but the one time I tried it there was no response.

Re: Info and help wanted

There is no point giving you an email address for Russells. Just send him a fax with the list of the parts you need, your address and card details. Cheers John

Re: Info and help wanted

i saw on this forum something about bi carbonate of soda blasting which gave a good dull but clean finnish

Re: Info and help wanted

Blasting is the best way in my experience. After they have been degreased, deburred, threaded holes tapped out etc. do them with aluminium oxide first and then a glass bead to finish...Ian

Re: Info and help wanted

Hi Darren
You can also try ultra sonic cleaning for your alloy parts. Your local diesel specialist may have a cleaner. Also POR15 do a marine clean and other products that may help. www.por15.com . I also tried to get in touch with Russel motors and found fax is the only way.

Hi Darren
I just realized that you are in Australia. Have you tried Bill Green in NSW 0419 280650 or e mail
bbg34@optusnet.com.au.

cheers

Re: Info and help wanted

Thank you gentlemen.
Phil thanks yes I know about Bill, unfortunately he does not have all the parts I need. Some of his parts are aftermarket such as his fork links so I would rather buy originals from Russells if possible.
These are some of the problems you have when building a bike from scratch. Have you had any luck with British spares in NZ I have their catalogue plenty of BSA parts but not much WM 20 parts
