repro silencer

Greetings everyone . Could anybody offer advice upon heat resistant paint for painting a silencer ? I have bought a litre of celulose based Olive Drab paint from a military vehicle paint supplier , but thought it best to turn to the WM20 forum for advice when it comes to heat issues with paint . Any comments?

Re: repro silencer

Hi Leif,
The heat resisting paint is most common in mate black,
But there are several companies which manufacture it
In a range of colors.

Usually spray paint for stoves or engines is good enough. I used one for the cylinder and head and it holdes nicely.

There is a verity of colors on this link:

They should actually be silver! Matt black makes an acceptable substitute

Re: repro silencer

Yes,

I painted mine mate black.
Usually the black also can take higher temperatures,
and do not have discoloration between hotter and cooler areas of the exhaust.

Hi Leif,

Try contacting Frost A.R.T (www.frost.co.uk). They have all sorts of good stuff.

Their technical guy, Mike Wood is very knowledgable.

Cheers,

Robb
