Original Voltage Regulator

Im about to start 'do-ing up' my old voltage regulator (i.e. give the cover some TLC and a lick of paint) but before I do, I just want to check i'm not wasting my time.

It looks in very good condition inside - no major corrosion etc - will it be ok for re-use or should I bin it for a modern one?

Re: Original Voltage Regulator

If you have an original MCR1, they are getting hard to find, so definitely do not bin it! They are so robust and still likely to be working after 70 years. If you buy a modern Indian made repro....you'll be lucky if it lasts for 70 days. My advice is to fit it and see if it works ok. If not just remove the guts and fit a modern electronic solid state thingy. These cost around £40 and will fit inside the old lid. Ron

Re: Original Voltage Regulator

Cheers Ron, just thought I check - as I've seen a few folk talking about the modern ones recently. I'll crack on with the one I have.
