Re: Forum picture

Well,

He isn't listed in the wargraves commission so that's a start. I've narrowed Clarence down to being from Galt Ontario. Just after WW2 the Highlanders were merged with the Perth to make the Perth and Waterloo Regiment, which flopped and was disbanded and the highland's went to the Royal Highland Fusiliers - who are still around today.

I found however, an article from 2009:
http://eedition.thepost.on.ca/doc/Hanover-Post/remembranceday/2009110401/3.html#3

Which shows a Clarence and Howard Orton having both passed away since WW2 (page 3)... However this is from Hanover, which is about an hour's drive from Waterloo. Not quite Galt. Likely they moved? While I can't say for certain, but it seems quite reasonable as though the good Seargent did indeed make it home, but has since passed away.

Pity. I'd like to hear that story.

Re: Forum picture

That appears to be a stretcher on that parabike in the background-could it be strapped to the bike?

Re: Forum picture

Sort of looks as though the bike is leaning against the stretcher. Stretcher seems to be laying on something.
