M20 Frame

Hello I am trying to build a M20 from parts.I have several motors
And gearboxes. But the one I am most interested
In is what I believe is a 1942 WM20 60729
Unfortunately when I got it it had been cut out
Of the frame.
What I would like to know is there a difference in
The front diamond frame on telescopic to girder fork models
Does anyone know where I could get a front diamond frame in Australia.
I have a rear rigid frame.
Cheers Darren

Re: M20 Frame

Hi Darren...The girder fork and tele fork frame front sections do differ. Girder fork models have a front frame tube that extends right down to connect to the lower frame rails in front of the engine.
On tele fork types, as the front wheel moved towards the frame when the forks were compressed, the front tube was shortened and pulled back to provide sufficient clearance. It then connected to the top of the front engine plates....Ian

Re: M20 Frame

Do you have any parts from the front section as a result of the past cutting?

I have two spare front sections that have been butchered in different ways.

One (WM20 66962) has had the very bottom lugs hacked off on both the front and rear down sections. The other (WM20 45531) has had the rear section cut off just in front of the front seat mount so is missing the rear section completely. The steering head and front down section is in perfect condition.!

There probably are other Aussie forum members with complete front sections for sale but if all else fails..........necessity being the mother of invention and all that.

Re: M20 Frame

Hello Ray
I have the rear up right section up to where the the plate is where I believe the petrol tank bolts on. So I believe the second frame you mention would work.
Would you be willing to part with it?
I am looking for many other parts that anyone is willing to part with.
Thank you both Ian and Ray for your help

Re: M20 Frame

Darren, I will drag these out tomorrow and send you some photos - I'm sure we could arrange a trade for something M20.

I'll send you an email with my mobile # if you like - I'm in Werribee in Victoria.
