as some people on the forum will know an event called armour and embarkation was run in Dorset last year ,it involved taking an armoured convoy from a campsite in Dorset on a 23 mile road run stopping off at several locations and leading Dorchester carnival before returning to the camp. The convoy was marshalled by about a dozen wartime bikes and had no police escort, the local police said it was the best controlled convoy they had ever seen.
This event is now to be repeated in 2012 over the weekend of the 23/24 of june and it is envisaged that it will be considerably larger with a greater number of tanks and other armour therefore a greater number of bikes for convoy control are required so if anyone is interested in taking part they would be most welcome and I can forward their details to the organisers.
For anyone who wishes to find out what last years event was like search you tube for armour and embarkation
thanks ,Nigel
Unfortunately for me, Weymouth council have had to move the veterans parade (of which I'm one of the organisers) to that same weekend. Bugger and double Bugger!! Ron
I'm in Nigel, pinged Jack a note. I really enjoyed this, a great event, lovely village atmostphere, friendly MV owners, good beer, 40's evening dancing. Not often you get to ride along side tanks with your bike mates..plenty of DR work for us lot, great way to spend a spare weekend.
