Yesterday I found a new 1983 NATO-marked tool roll, that looks exactly like the supposedly WW2 ones; only the canvas straps to hold the tools are leather.
Can anything be said if this is really the pattern for the BSA tool roll?
And I also found two new short (2 ft) straps with clasps marked "ROKO" that look exactly like the ones on the 66-9158; only, the width of the canvas is 31 mm (1 7/32")
I've got one of those post-war rolls with a NATO stock number. Sometimes they're seen with a brown leather strap.
I think that it's as good as you'll find for regular use in the toolbox.
Norton tool rolls were listed as leather but some late war photographs suggest canvas and the straps may well be leather. It's difficult to be sure from photographic evidence
