DR Gear

I have a small quantity of Brit WW2 soap dishes for sale or trade.

They are a hinged aluminum box with rounded edges in unissued condition. They will fit in the palm of your hand.

The markings are small, but read: W.S.I., 1945, Broad Arrow, CC1114

I do not know how to upload a pic of these.

I'd like $20.00 plus shipping. Shipping to Europe is $15.00 via US priority mail.

Re: DR Gear

Hi Robb

They used to be pretty common in the UK, last time I left one in a toilet block somewhere in Europe I found a replacement very easily.

Re: DR Gear

These soap tins (made of aluminium) were part of the 1944 British Army jungle kit, intended to protect the issue soap in tropical extremes....most seen today have 1945 dates and I doubt if any were seen in Europe until possibly the very end of WW2...

Not sure if a similar tin for the soap was issued prior to this for general use....steel or bakelite springs to mind...? I suspect most troops simply wrapped the soap up in paper wrapping and shoved it into their canvas personal kit roll...
