Screw loose

Well screw lost actually.
One of those long skinny ones that holds the glasss (plastic really) cover onto a Lucas L564 type rear light.
I measure it as 5/32 36TPI and 1.75 inches long. Anyone know what it is (BA???) and where I can get one.
I have several of these lights and they all seem to have different ways of attaching the lens so I can't rob a part of a spare
Cheers

Re: Screw loose

Hi Peter, I think I'm correct in saying that all original Lucas units had a stud fixed into the rear plate of the light and an internally threaded 'sleeve screw' that fitted through the lens and picked up the stud. Pattern versions used a long screw only, often with a 'Philips' pattern head which screwed directly into the back of the light. It certainly sounds like BA but I will have to check in my thread book. What style of fastener does the light have?....Ian

Re: Screw loose

Yep, it's an 'orrible pattern type with the long screw

I think this is the original Lucas job but it's a bit knackered, although if I can get a new lens for it repairing it would be an option. (any one know a source?)

Re: Screw loose

Can't find a BA to suit but I suppose it could be metric M4 which is 36.3 TPI and 4mm which is 5/32 in real measurements

Re: Screw loose

Highly likely to be a metric thread on the pattern light I should think. There is a guy who does the jumbles that specialises in Lucas bits..it is quite probable he will have a lens. I may have something in the 'not used very often'department...I'll mail you if I have....Ian

Re: Screw loose

Cheers Ian, a used lens would be a start if you have one lying around.
I'm off down the local DIY shop to see if they have a suitable M4 screw in the morning. Otherwise it's one more thing for the "Stafford list".

Re: Screw loose

Yep, M4, now why didn't that occur to me before I had spent an hour farting about with a thread gauge and the box labelled "miscellaneous" ?
