I have eventually found an original reflector and a flat glass for my 8'' headlamp.
I still miss the rim, the bulbholder, the bulbholder clip (that holds the bulbholder on the reflector) and the rim's clip (that holds the rim on the shell).
Can anyone share a picture of how a 1940 DU42 8'' rim should look like? Have seen quite many, but don't know which is correct.
Is there anyone who has any of the above parts spare?
Kostas the 8" headlamp is in fact a DU 142. If the bulb holder that Dave has is for a DU 42 and incorporates the pilot bulb holder, it might not fit as the reflector radius is probably different. The proper fixing clip for an early DU 142 rim is with a screw (perhaps someone has a good picture of this) The easier to find later type has a spring clip like the 6 1/2" DU 42...only longer. There are some pictures in technical data on this site and also some on Rob's site. Ron
www.vehicle-products.eu do a selection of 8" headlamp rims they show the profiles of them one might be what you are looking for the only bug bare is they might be chromed
When I have a camera again hopefully tomorrow, I'll take some pictures of the proper fixing hardware, Have N.O.S. bulb holders for sale, if anyone still needs one.
Here are two 8inch rims, the top one is made of steel and takes the flat type of rim clip. The bottom one is made of brass (mmmmm brass) and has the bolt together type of rim clip, I'm fairly sure this second one is correct for an Early M20 but I don't know which is right for a 1941 Big4?
