I think it's a bloody good idea. Although there are a couple of things to consider.....First you must have too much money! Second you must like hospital food! Ron

It takes a while for all these emerging countries to 'get on the case' with manufacturing consumer goods...most people would happily buy a Korean car these days but 20 years ago they were making poor quality copies of outdated Toyota Corollas.
The Russians don't seem to be able to get past trees, coal, oil and gas...are there ANY Russian consumer goods on the market apart from Ural sidecar outfits?
The Chinese primarily manufacture for western companies to their specifications..most of what they produce themselves is still of poor quality...though that is beginning to change.
The Indians have far less of a tendency to manufacture for others but have yet to achieve the required quality and consistency for Western markets.
If you 'buy Indian' you are taking a gamble every time and in most cases will find the product deficient in some way.
The poor quality and incorrect specification of materials, inaccuracy and inconsistency in design and manufacture and difficulties of resolving problems are well known to everyone when it comes to Indian products. I would certainly not even consider risking life and limb on a bike comprised largely of load bearing components produced in that part of the world.... Ian

I concur with Ian's Comment's I have Bought 2 Indian Made Components
1. a Kick start Quadrant which looked a Quality item but When I tried to assemble it I found the shaft had a 0.010" interference fit in the Bush not a Problem I am engineer with a Lathe so Spent considerable time setting it up and Machining it down only to find when assembled the gear would only engage with one tooth of the pinion before locking up solid so it to the bin and back to the original component
2. A set of upper and Lower links for the Girder Fork
they look like the work of a First year apprentice the pins a not parallel or 90 degrees to the link. Both items where purchased from reputable suppliers so I for one will need to know the provenance of any components I purchase.

Hi Ron...Say no more...What bothers me is that 'reputable' dealers are prepared to sell this stuff without bothering to establish that it is fit for purpose.
I think the situation tends to be better if you purchase from someone who specialises in a particular model or make...they tend to be more familiar with the spec of the parts and more interested in what they are involved with than 'general' dealers. Also if they actually work on the bikes they are likely to have tried the components themselves and sorted out the good stuff from the rubbish.
The problem is there aren't many of them about as it isn't the best way to make money..

Ron, were those the fork links that I got for you from Russells? I looked at them when they arrived and thought they looked a bit iffy, but as I was only acting as middleman it wasn't really my problem. I think I informed you that they weren't original ones at the time, you should have sent them back to me and I'd have got them exchanged.
I'm a firm believer in creating as much fuss as possible if something isn't right, that way the retailer will actually inform the wholesaler that the item is faulty and he will then ensure that they are correctly manufactured in future. I see so often that people buy faulty parts and don't send them back, what happens then is that the retailer thinks everyone is happy and nothing gets done about them!

Re:indian message for dave plumb????

Dave
I think you have the wrong Ron you did not source these links and you are right I should have made a Fuss but with the Quadrant it was too late I had already Modified in the Hope the oversize Shaft was the Only Problem I have learnt from the exercise and have removed both suppliers from my vendor List and we will write it off to experience but will certainly be more proactive in following up faulty work. when I get Home I will Post some Photo’s
