It's a 'Mugs' game

Lots of wartime photos show the Enamel Mug that was an essential part of every soldiers kit...well you can't survive without a 'brew' can you?
These are frequently white mugs but there were also brown ones which can be found with a wartime date.
Were both types in use throughout the war..or did one follow the other? Does anyone know?...or care? ....Ian

Re: It's a 'Mugs' game

Hi Ian,

I have got a 1945 dated green mug, this one is bigger the the "normal"white cup.
See: http://www.westland.nl/
And search for "mug" in the english listing

Cheers,

Leon

Re: It's a 'Mugs' game

I have a brown war time dated mug but can only find white mugs in my photo collection.

For some reason I can't help it wanting a white mug now, thanks Ian.

Henk.

Re: It's a 'Mugs' game

I have had 2 brown enamelled wartime mugs dated 43 & 44 but despite my best attempts never seen a genuine wartime dated white WD marked one with the blue rim. Im guessing the white ones were before the brown ones.
