7/8 levers to one inch

To progress the WNG,Has anybody tried enlarging 7/8 levers to one inch,as cant find tapered handlebars, Is there an easy way, or is it, just file, file,file, I was thinking a man with a lathe might do it, but haven't got one, and don't know how to use one, any help any body andrew.h.

Hi Andrew, do you have the solid or rubber mount bars? If solid, I would go for 7/8" bars and make some reducers (probably from some old 1" bars) In the past I have enlarged 7/8 brass lever brackets just by careful filing. That way you can keep checking so you don't make them too slack.

It would be easier to ream them out with an expanding reamer, but you should put a bit of coke tin in there just to space them out on the screws so that they still nip up on the bars when they are reamed to size
