1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing

Only the Remnant are Truly Saved

"God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant in the earth, and to keep you alive by a great deliverance." (Genesis 45:7)

"For though your people, O Israel, may be like the sand of the sea, Only a remnant within them will return; A destruction is determined, overflowing with righteousness." (Isaiah 10:22)

"So too at the present time there is a remnant, chosen by grace." (Romans 11:5)

I couldn't help but the think of the remnant that will be saved. A remnant was saved on the ark and only a remnant will be saved of Israel in the end. But what else does this apply to? Does this apply to all us gentile believers too, such as Romans 11:5 above specifies? What do you all think?

I guess this surprised me because I was raised in a Christian home with a lot of Christian influence, even from other people who weren't family. I assumed as a kid that the majority of people were good (Christians). But now I know that not to be true with alarming statistics. According to 2012 statistics, only a third of the world identify as Christian.

What bothers me though, is other statistics I've heard from different sources that only about 1 in 10 of people who say they're Christian, are really born again. So 1/10th of the 1/3rd are the only people going to Heaven! It makes me sad because most of the people who are really good people who identify as Christian don't even realize they aren't saved. Good people don't go to Heaven, saved people do.

I hope everyone who reads this will really look at themselves and make sure they are right with God. The best way to know you are saved is by reading the Bible. It will convict you, change you, and give you all the assurance of salvation you'll ever need. It's really the best feeling in the world, better than any drug! I walked around for years not having the assurance of salvation, walking with doubt, walking with pride, thinking I was better than those "bad" people when in reality I was lost too, although I didn't commit "bad" sins! Only the remnant will be saved!

Re: Only the Remnant are Truly Saved

The only way to be truly saved is to accept Jesus. Period. You can't enter Heaven by trying to be good, by going to church, by having Christian parents, by being baptized, or by giving away lots of money. You can only be saved by believing Jesus and by accepting His free gift of salvation. So many people stumble over that basic requirement, yet it is the only requirement that we have to meet, in order to enter Heaven. It is by grace through faith that we're saved; not by works, lest we should boast. Those who actually meet that requirement constitute the remnant.

It has always been a remnant all throughout the Bible that will be saved and the truth of the matter is compared to the world's population it will be small. God said narrow is the way and broad is the way to destruction.

Kathy G Well said on the plan of Salvation. You are right, it is so simple that people stumble over this and miss God's purpose.
