1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing

One Last Prophetic Thought About Comet Ison

Hi Everybody,

I would like to post one last thought about Comet Ison and its possible prophetic significance. Ison was supposed to be the “comet of the century” and be visible even during the day. As it turned out, it was a fizzle and most people (like myself) never even saw it.

Comets have always been regarded as harbingers throughout history – messengers warning of coming disasters. This was especially true in biblical times when people did not know what they were or what caused them. We should still regard comets as prophetically significant in that they are one of the signs in the heavens that God placed in the sky for all of humanity to see. Doesn’t the Bible tell us to look for signs in the sun, moon, and stars during the last days as a sign of Jesus imminent return?

At first I was severely disappointed that Ison was such a failure as a prophetic warning. The timing of Ison seemed so perfect as my soul senses that the end of the Age of Grace is at hand and that something really big is about to happen. I honestly believed that Ison was going to herald the beginning of the tribulation and the beginning of Daniel’s 70th week. Instead, it was a total flop, or so it seemed to me at the time.

Now it occurs to me that Comet Ison was the big, spectacular sign in the sky for all to see that nobody saw. That really seems ironically appropriate for the time we are living in now. There are so many signs out there that the Age of Grace is at hand and the rapture of the Church is imminent, and yet extremely few see any of them. Perhaps God is making a statement here. He has given us so many signs and yet so very few take note. This is a perfect sign of the time that we are in now.

Perhaps we are a whole lot closer to the rapture than we really think.

Re: One Last Prophetic Thought About Comet Ison

You may be right about that one.

The sign that we are done.

Just as in The days of Jesus when he said no other sign will be given unto you except the sign of Jonah.

Re: One Last Prophetic Thought About Comet Ison

Carl, I love your post, very profound! Like you, I was so excited about Comet Ison and was so surprised at the fizzle. Never considered what it meant until I read this. Excellent!

Also, so glad to have you on RFTH. I always enjoyed your posts on 5 Doves and looked forward to reading them.

It is good to see you posting also Daniel. God bless you both for sharing your insights with us as we all wait for Jesus and the rapture.
