1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing

Polar Vortex Coming This Weekend

We've had cold winters before but this is ridiculous! A cold wave dubbed a "Polar Vortex" is coming across the country this weekend to deepen the cold weather already crippling half the country and of course Canada is still suffering with horribly cold weather. In England high tides and flooding are at record highs along with cold. The weather is definitely becoming more severe in every season. If you've seen pictures of the waves roaring into the shores of England it will put you in mind of Jesus' warning of the days before He returns - "the sea and waves roaring and men's hearts failing them for fear".

Re: Polar Vortex Coming This Weekend

It's going to be cold enough here, tomorrow and especially Monday! Thankfully, though, nothing like the temperatures up north.

Re: Polar Vortex Coming This Weekend

Texas Sue, Kathy, & Calvin,

Those pictures from the link posted from the Daily Mail, looks like exactly like parts of Canada.

Apparently we're going to get hit once again, and it sure sounds it's the Polar Vortex, coming through here as well.

All I know, some are still without power and this new storm coming is going to make a bad situation worse for these people.

I pray our power stays up, and these frost quakes stop. I believe before this winter is over many people will die.

Please pray for us here in Canada, especially Toronto, and outskirts, and in turn we will be praying for our American neighbors suffering similar disasters,in your country.

I said to my husband today, I always wonder if I'm going to make it through another winter, especially this one, which has been brutal so far.

Praying for the Lord to have mercy on His own, until Jesus comes for us.

God Bless!

Valerie

Re: Polar Vortex Coming This Weekend

Praying here for an early Spring!

Re: Polar Vortex Coming This Weekend

Shall we pray that the groundhog will miss his shadow next month? =)

That's precisely what I saw in my dream, T/Sue!!! I saw a humongistly high tsunami-type wave rising several stories high. It frightened me sooo much, that I had to wake up.

"...the sea and waves roaring, and men's hearts failing them for fear" indeed!!!

Btw, I heard that the temps up in that midwest region of the U.S., will be dropping as low as -53. Thank God, that I live down here in bright warmy 'n' sunny Arizona; for which our temps are 69-70+ during the day, and not any lower than in the 40s at night.

Am praying for you, Val, & for our fellow RFTH members who happen to live in those sections of North America where the extremely freezing temps totally suck.

Re: Polar Vortex Coming This Weekend

Right here, today's high is supposed to be 35; tonight's low and tomorrow night's low are both supposed to be in the mid-teens; and tomorrow's high is supposed to be 28. Plus, we're under a lake wind advisory today. It's cold outside, all right, and it's going to be even colder tonight and tomorrow! Thank the Lord for heaters and electric blankets.

Re: Polar Vortex Coming This Weekend

At 12 noon it is 30 degrees here with a high of 34 predicted and a low tonight o 16. I realize that may seem warm to those in below 0 weather but in Texas that is cold! We are more acclimated to warm, even very hot temperatures so this feels like deep-freeze here.

Calvin, you are most likely right that this excessively cold polar air could be the result of this admin's push for Israel to give up the West Bank and half of Jerusalem. Kerry is back in Jerusalem I think now and the Pope is on his way there tomorrow.

Re: Polar Vortex Coming This Weekend

Same here in southeastern Oklahoma, Texas Sue!

Right now, it's 28 degrees, and this is our forecast from the Weather Channel Web site:

Right Now: 28°F (FEELS LIKE 14° ). Mostly Cloudy / Windy. Locations nearby are reporting snow. Wind: NNW at 23 mph (gusting to 29 mph). Next 6 Hours: Mostly sunny and windy. Temperatures steady near 31F. Winds NNW at 25 to 30 mph.

Today: 34° HIGH. Partly Cloudy / Wind. Wind: NNW at 23 mph. Today: A mix of clouds and sun with gusty winds. Cold. High: 34F. Winds NNW at 20 to 30 mph.

Tonight: LOW: 14°. Clear. Wind: NNW at 19 mph. Tonight: Mainly clear. Cold. Low 14F. Winds NNW at 15 to 25 mph.

Hard Freeze Warning from Mon, 2 am until Mon, 9am CST.

Lake Wind Advisory until Sun, 6 pm CST.

The Weather Channel's "Local on the 8's" says that it will be cold, that today's temperatures will be steady in the low-to-mid 30s, that it will be windy with a mix of clouds and sun, that the winds will be coming from the northwest at 20-30 miles per hour, and that tonight's low will be 15°.

Re: Polar Vortex Coming This Weekend

Right now it's -1 feels like -6 and it snowing here. Some places it freezing rain is falling, that's what makes it bad, because, the temperature drops down quickly, and the power lines freeze up, ant their goes your lights and heat.

I'm concerned that if the majority of power goes down again, many people will be in dire straits once again, and this time more will die.

Thank you Tammy for praying for us, I'm remembering, those in your country in my prayers as well.

When I think about what we've been through and what we may go through as yet,
this comes to mind; Jesus never said it would be easy to follow Him, but He did say it will be worth it. No matter what, I know the Lord will see us through it all.

From the Chosen Frozen in T.O

Re: Polar Vortex Coming This Weekend

Praying for you too, Valerie and those in this freezing path.

Re: Polar Vortex Coming This Weekend

Jan. 6, 7AM, the temp. is -12 below zero this morning.. Our temperature is usually around 30-50 degree range here in my area, which is about 100 miles south of St. Louis.. Saturday night thru Monday morning, snow fell for roughly a total of 10-12 inches.. I haven't opened my door yet to check here at my place. St. Louis weather said Farmington had 11.3 inches.. I live a few miles outside of town..

Everyone stay inside if possible if you have this frigid cold.. It's just to dangerous to get out for us older folks espeacially..

God bless and keep looking up..

Re: Polar Vortex Coming This Weekend

Well, we're better off here in that respect. As of 8:19 a.m., the Weather Channel's "Local on the 8s" says that it is 14 degrees outside and that the wind chill is 1 (it was 12 degrees until now). We're under a hard freeze warning until 9 a.m. and a wind chill advisory until noon. The high today is supposed to be 28, and then there's supposed to be another hard freeze warning from midnight tonight until 9 a.m. tomorrow. Definitely a good day to stay home and stay inside!

Re: Siberian Cold Front Starting This Weekend

Well we had a few nicer winter days with temperatures above minus something or another, a couple days of 6 degrees, which seemed balmy after -40 degrees. However, just informed this Saturday on the weather Broadcast, we are getting
a Siberian Cold Front Temperatures coming our way, in a day or so. Lord help us!

"How cold is Siberia? On February 6, 1933, the temperature in Oimyakon, Russia plunged to -90° Fahrenheit (-68° Celsius), giving Siberia the world's lowest temperature outside of Antarctica. During the winter, average temperatures in Siberia range from -10°F (-23°C) to below -50°F (-45°F). God help us one and all, is all I can add.

Apparently it is already sweeping Europe, and coming our way now.

Siberian cold front sweeps across Europe, bringing record low temperatures
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/picturegalleries/worldnews/9051921/Siberian-cold-front-sweeps-across-Europe-bringing-record-low-temperatures.html

Forecast for this week is all in the minus temperatures looking at Tuesday -20

Ok that does it, I can't take this winter weather anymore, and we're not even half way through yet; yikes! I'm unable to travel to a warmer climate, therefore, I'm going to hibernate until Spring. I'm getting under my warm bed covers and sleeping until then, at least I can dream of nice warm days. Going to set my alarm to wake me up when Spring arrives. If you don't hear from me until Spring, you'll at least know what happened to me. LOL

Re: Polar Vortex Coming This Weekend

Valerie, this is crazy weather! Do you remember earlier last year when there was talk of a polar shift and verified reports that the north pole is shifting by several degrees and continuing to move? Then all of that talk just shut off and disappeared. With all the sinkholes, typhoons, tornadoes, blistering heat in the summer and deep freeze winters lately it is obvious that something has changed, is changing and is not the norm. It is like the scientific community has been walled off from any media coverage and no explanations for all of this at all!

Stay as warm as possible and indoors. Hope you stocked up on soup and hot cocoa!!! Spring can't come too soon this year.

Re: Polar Vortex Coming This Weekend

We're having spring-like weather down 'n' out here in beautiful sunny Arizona. Infact, today is our last day for the annually held Balloon Festival here in Lake Havasu.

Texas Sue, Thanks so much for reminding of all that talk about of a polar shift and the north pole shifting by several degrees & continuing to move; you're absolutely correct, that's the root cause of where all the frigid weather we're experiencing now. Yes then in the summer, all those sinkholes, etc., blistering heat etc., something has definitely changed.

I remember back in July, when a 20 minute drive to our daughter's house, by highway, took us over 2 hours to get home, because of the sudden flooding of streets/roads, which were closed off, and impassible. The traffic lights were no longer worked and it was chaos just trying to maneuver through an intersection without getting hit by another car. I believe this happened on July 5th.

Then this very winter in December, the Polar Vortex, which knocked out electricity, heat, to over 500,000 homes for weeks on end, due to down power lines, and toppled trees, unable to hold the weight of the freezing ice. Then those ice quakes, which rumbled and shook the earth and houses. Thanking God
for helping us through both of these events. God is Good!

Now we're coming into the Siberian Cold Front heading this way, and we're not even half way through winter as yet.

My husband went out today, to pick up grocery because, the car may not start if the temperatures dips too low. We're prepared for the worst, but hope for the best, that it passes over quickly without anymore blackouts, or downed wires.

Sue, this looks like things are going to get much worse before they get better, therefore, I'm praying Jesus will come and take us home via the Rapture this year. I think we are sitting with a front row view of a taste
of how horrific things will be during the Great Tribulation. It will be the worst of times, since time existed, for those left behind, and the best of times for those whom are Raptured and safely in Heaven with Jesus.

Maranatha!

Valerie

Special weather statement for
City of Toronto continued

Cold front sweeping across Southern Ontario today and tonight.

A sharp cold front will sweep south across Southern Ontario reaching Southern Georgian Bay to just south of Algonquin Park by early this evening and the 401 corridor overnight. The front is expected to bring a general 2 to 4 cm snowfall to the region however areas northeast of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay could see local snowfall amounts up to 10 cm.

Strong and gusty southwesterly winds are expected to develop this morning ahead of the front. As snow associated with the front moves in, local blowing snow reducing visibility to 200 metres or less at times will be possible especially over exposed areas. The strongest winds are likely near the shores of the Great Lakes where gusts between 50 and 70 km/h are possible. Wind warnings have been issued for the northeast shore of Lake Erie and Picton-Sandbanks Park where gusts to 90 km/h are forecast.

Along the front, bands of intense flurries may develop giving a brief period of near zero visibilities in snow and blowing snow along with a quick few centimetres of accumulation.

Behind the front an Arctic airmass will settle in over the region. Lake effect flurries and local snow squalls are expected to develop southeast of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay Monday. In addition, the deepening cold air combined with moderate winds will result in cold wind chill values ranging from minus 25 to minus 35 Tuesday morning.

Valerie & All!!!

Ever since the first spout of this Polar Vortex happened...I really must tell you that it brought back memories of that film--The Day After Tomorrow, that I saw on DVD and since then...on the Spike TV channel.

Have any of you folks seen this film??? Anyhoo, it aired only just this last night on the above channel.

Re: Polar Vortex Coming This Weekend

Hi Tammy,

Yes I seen that movie before too, it does remind one of that movie.

It was extremely cold yesterday with the windchill factor it felt like
-30 degrees.

Also the frigid front is suppose to continue all week right into next week
as well. I really dislike winter more than ever now. It feels so long right now and we're not even half way through it as yet.

Praise God, we are promised that God will see us through it all, and will stay with us to the very end.

These indeed are the end days we're living in, and it's only going to get much worse before Jesus returns to Earth at His Second Coming.

In the meantime, the Rapture could take place at any second of any day,
the good Lord desires.

Valerie!

Sheila McCarthy, your fellow Canadian actress...plays a New York Public Librarian in The Day After Tomorrow film.

Have you seen her in the Emily of New Moon TV series? Unfortunately, we here in the U.S., never got to see the series.

Re: Polar Vortex Coming This Weekend

Sorry Tammy,

I'm not much up on any actresses, or actors, be they Canadian, American, or otherwise.

No I have not seen that TV series either. My husband is more of a TV buff, and is a fan of action films, and will watch for hours. I prefer other things besides the "boob tube" (slang for TV), like, crocheting, knitting, drawing
painting, writing, internet, etc. I did recently make two miniature plushie toys for our granddaughters, a little rice cooker, & a little lion, plus knitted two new thick warm scarves for the girls.

However, back to the subject, it's still very cold here, in the -30's and I just as soon stay indoors, where it's warm and comfortable. We're expecting snow again, and the Polar Vortex will continue to keep us in the cold.
I'm just gratefully, we have power, and are able to stay warm. Thanks be to God.

Valerie
