1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing

My pastor's sermon this morning.

For the past 3 weeks, including today, my pastor has been doing a series on worship. The text for today's sermon was Psalm 135. These are notes which were put up on the 2 movie screens for the congregation to see (they're used to display the lyrics of the songs we sing), and I wrote them down. I also wrote down a point he emphasized toward the end of his sermon that was not included in those notes. I thought I'd share those notes with you all, as I feel you'll be blessed by them.

6 Reasons to Worship

1. Because He has chosen us. %%htmlItem_2%%
2. Because He is sovereign. %%htmlItem_3%%
3. Because He delivers His people. %%htmlItem_4%%
4. Because He endures forever. %%htmlItem_5%%
5. Because He alone is God. %%htmlItem_6%%
6. Because He alone is worthy of worship. %%htmlItem_7%%

And here's the final point that my pastor emphasized near the end of his sermon:

He is worthy of worship because He alone can save.

All the while, for the past 3 worship services, our pastor has been emphasizing that worship is the primary reason that we come to church; not to sing songs, or to fellowship with one another (although that's important, too), but to worship God. So if we're finding fault with some minor detail in the worship service such as a particular song that the church is singing, or the particular Bible translation that the pastor is reading from, or some other such detail, then we've got the wrong mindset for attending church.
