: Should condo dryer vents be inspected every year?
People in our condo building recently started talking about dryer vents after one unit had airflow problems and overheating. It surprised me because most residents never think about the vent system at all. Now I’m wondering if yearly inspections are actually necessary for condos.
Re: : Should condo dryer vents be inspected every year?
Shared residential buildings probably face different ventilation challenges compared to regular houses because multiple dryer systems may connect through longer duct paths. Annual inspections sound reasonable when airflow problems can remain hidden for a long time before residents notice anything unusual.
Re: : Should condo dryer vents be inspected every year?
Condo dryer systems probably become harder to monitor because most of the vent lines are hidden behind walls or shared building areas where residents rarely see what’s happening. I noticed this after a neighbour mentioned their dryer was taking much longer to finish even smaller laundry loads, while the machine itself felt unusually hot afterward. Since airflow issues inside condo buildings can affect more than one unit over time, the management eventually arranged condo vent cleaning to inspect and clear the system properly. The technicians found a surprising amount of lint buildup deep inside sections that nobody could access normally. After the cleaning, the dryers in several units started working more efficiently again and the overheating complaints mostly disappeared. It also gave residents more confidence that the building ventilation system wasn’t quietly becoming a larger fire or safety concern over time.
