Allaire/Ellery

I'm searching for Joseph Ellery who married Almira LaPlante in 1852. I learned from a woman posting on Ancestry.com that Joseph Ellery was really Joseph Allaire, and the family changed their name in New Braintree Massachusetts in the 1850's to make it sound more English, rather than French.

I do know that they came from Quebec by way of Vermont and settled in Worcester County, Massachusetts. Before Massachusetts, though, my info is sketchy. I'd love any info if anyone has a connection.

Re: Allaire/Ellery

Hello Karen,

There is no reference of a Joseph Allaire (Joseph Ellery) who married Almira LaPlante in the book... "Les Familles Allaire et Dallaire" by Violette Allaire (Québec 1962). Good luck with your search.
