What's the thread in the front brake plate where the cable adjuster goes in? I had it powder-coated, but now I have to clean the threads

5/16" 26tpi cycle thread isn't it ?
easy to count threads on your adjuster if you have it to hand.

That's right Fred....You have to go carefully with the tap and keep it square though, as it gets caught in the slot for the cable as you turn it...Ian

Another thing I would say is tap from below as the fitting is not square with the wheel as the thread angles away from the bike looking down.
