Matchless brake shoes

I've been sent an e-mail from a friend asking about Matchless rear brake shoes. He thinks the bike is 1941, the bike is in bits ready for a rebuild. Evidently there are two sizes large and small..? He only has one shoe so hasn't got a pair to exchange and this seems to be the only way to get some. Can anyone help please?

Here's a picture of the wheel and the bike to identify what shoes are needed, are these large or small? Any info will be gratefully received and I will pass it on to him. Thanks

Re: Matchless brake shoes

Can't see the hub, but thats not a Matchless brake.

either size are not too hard to find, forget exchanges.

WD ones are either steel or alloy depending on past availiabity over last 70 years.

That bike also has the wrong gearbox.[and is that an 18 inch rim?]

Re: Matchless brake shoes

I've passed the info on and he says he has another wheel which he thinks is a Matchless one. Does anyone know what the gearbox is in this bike? Thanks

Re: Matchless brake shoes

Here, Ron, you must start that Matchless in your carpet slippers judging by the finish on that kickstart!
