Dear Friends
My name is Kunal. I am restoring one war time Matchless motorcylcle. If someone has the measurements of a back wheel spindle please do share it with me.
I searched the forum and got the thread size as 7/16 x 26 tpi. The length of the axle, length of the bush and the dia of the bush is what I would need.
Warm regards - Kunal
Dear John, It is going to be expensive if i am going to buy it from England. Considering the weigt. Courier costs will be huge. I have a full automatic lathe here and if I get measurements I can finih off the job in under an hour. Help me with this please.
Warm Regards
Kunal
Hello Douglas,
I have all the other parts except the spindle. If I get the
a. Diameter of the spindle
b. Diameter of the spacer
c. Length of the spacer
d. Overall Length of the spindle
e. Length of the spacer from the end
Kunal, email will be sent in a minute, with sketch and measurements.
But there's been talk, that there are 2 types of spindles, but I have only ever come across the type where the spacer has threads inside aswell, and the spindle is threaded all the way inside the spacer, anyway, look at email, and if more questions let me know.
It may be that the spacer and spindle only have threads half or 3/4 way, but it's very tight fit, and don't want to damage my N.O.S. piece!
Sorry for the delay. Lex thank you so much for taking time to help me. I have already started work on the spindle. I will post photographs once I complete. Thank you
Warm Regards Kunal.S
Dear Lex, I made the spindle and it looks great. I did not know how to upload and that is why some delay. See the attached pics.
One more small favor. Do you have the dimensions of the distance or collar on the other side 1. between brake drum plate and frame (and) 2. the collar that comes inside the brake drum.
Warm Regards
